The Cert IV in Occupational Health and Safety OH&S is now the minimum requirement for health and safety management in many workplaces and is designed to enable you to participate in an organisation’s OHS Management Systems. The Cert IV OHS will teach you how to comply with workplace health and safety legislation, how to identify hazards, and how to assess and control the risks associated with those hazards. This course is a fantastic stepping stone for someone wanting to enhance their position in the OHS role or for someone looking for a change in career.

Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites for the Cert IV in Occupational Health and Safety, however
You do need to have sound language and literacy skills, and basic word processing.
You will also need to be able to access a workplace to complete the workplace-based assessments. If you are between jobs or your present workplace is unsuitable we can help with finding such a workplace for you.
When doing the course either in class or distance education you will be provided with an OHS trainer, all learning materials, flexible delivery options, and telephone and email support.
Training Schedule
The Cert IV in OH&S is offered as either in classroom training or through distance-learning.
The in class room course offers a 4 day face-to-face workshop run in Gympie or other areas as oganised.
If time and distance constraints make it difficult to attend an organised class then distance education is preferred by most students to enable them to study at their own pace from home. Safety Reps
This course is designed for Workplace Health and Safety Representatives. On successful completion of the course, learners will have acquired the skills and knowledge to enable them to fulfil the role of workplace health and safety representative as set down in section 81(1) of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995.
The units of competency addressed in this course are
WHSR01A – Identify and apply relevant workplace health and safety information
WHSR02A – Identify hazards and control risks in the workplace
WHSR03A – Represent workers in workplace health and safety consultation mechanisms
WHSR04A – Issue workplace health and safety provisional improvement notices (PINS)
The course is sequential. WHSR01A must be completed before WHSR02A, which must be completed before WHSR03A. The first three modules must be completed before WHSR04A may be completed.
